Taiwan Resumes Visa Applications from Moroccan Nationals

Taiwan has resumed accepting visa applications from Moroccan nationals, ending a pause that began in late July. The move follows Morocco’s decision to restart a key travel procedure for Taiwanese citizens.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) confirmed that its overseas missions can again receive applications from Moroccan passport holders starting October 12. Applicants should follow the usual regulations when submitting their documents.

The decision came after Moroccan authorities resumed processing visa confirmation letter (VCL) applications from Taiwanese nationals on September 21. The VCL is a required document that Taiwanese travelers must obtain before visiting Morocco.

How the dispute unfolded

The disagreement began on July 23, when Morocco suddenly announced it would temporarily stop accepting VCL requests from Taiwanese citizens. Taiwan responded on July 30 by suspending visa applications from Moroccan nationals. MOFA issued the latest update through its Department of West Asian and African Affairs as Press Release No. 499.

What it means for travelers

For Moroccan nationals, the Taiwan Visa process is open again at Taiwanese missions abroad. Anyone who delayed applying over the summer can now submit their paperwork.

Taiwanese passport holders planning a trip to Morocco can also move forward, since the VCL process has restarted. The Morocco Visa confirmation step is once again available, though travelers should check current requirements with the relevant authorities before booking.
