The Ministry of Interior has announced that skilled expatriate heads of households can now bring their family members to Saudi Arabia. Reported by the Saudi Press Agency, the decision reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all residents and is aimed at skilled professionals who relocate for work and wish to have their families with them.
The measure was introduced in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
Who Is Eligible
This covers the worker’s spouse, sons under the age of 25, and unmarried daughters. The announcement applies to skilled expatriates who are the heads of their households, meaning the main applicant in the family.
Entry Visa Process
Family members may obtain their entry visas at the same time as the head of household’s work visa is being completed. In practical terms, the worker’s family does not have to be left out of the process while the employment visa is being finalised, and both can move forward together.
Residency Procedures
Entry is only the first step. Once family members arrive in the Kingdom, their residency procedures will be completed in line with the relevant rules and guidelines. Families should therefore expect to complete the remaining steps once they are in Saudi Arabia.
What does this mean for workers?
The announcement points to a more convenient path for skilled expatriates who wish to settle in the Kingdom with their loved ones. Those interested should follow official channels for the latest guidance on requirements and procedures.
