Dubai has launched a new five-year multiple-entry visa aimed at facilitating travel between India and the UAE, according to reports from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) cited by PTI.
The move comes as Dubai seeks to capitalise on the growing interest in travel between the two countries, with a notable surge in Indian visitors despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Statistics from DET reveal that last year witnessed a significant increase in Indian tourists, making India the top source market with a remarkable 34% year-on-year growth.
In the preceding year, Dubai welcomed 2.46 million Indian tourists, marking a substantial rise from previous figures. The new visa arrangement allows eligible Indian nationals the convenience of multiple entries into Dubai over a five-year period, with each stay permitted for up to 90 days. Furthermore, the visa can be extended once for a similar duration, ensuring a maximum stay of 180 days within a year.
The application process for the visa is streamlined, with approvals typically granted within two to five working days upon submission.
Applicants must meet certain criteria, including maintaining a bank balance equivalent to $4,000 or more in foreign currencies over the last six months and possessing valid health insurance coverage applicable in the UAE.
The DET emphasised the benefits of this initiative, stating that it offers tourists operational flexibility for both business and leisure purposes, enhancing connectivity between the two regions.
Commenting on the launch, Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, highlighted India’s significance as a key market for Dubai. He expressed confidence that the new visa scheme would further strengthen economic ties and promote tourism between the two countries.
Habib underscored Dubai’s commitment to providing a diverse array of offerings to Indian tourists, citing exceptional flight connectivity and ongoing initiatives aimed at showcasing the city’s attractions and amenities.
The introduction of the five-year multiple-entry visa underscores Dubai’s efforts to position itself as a premier destination for Indian travellers, facilitating easier access and fostering greater collaboration between the two nations.
