However, owing to the limited allocation, not all individuals will qualify to apply.

Who, then, is eligible to apply for these digital visas to visit France? As per French authorities, there are two distinct groups of non-EU citizens requiring visas for entry who may be eligible for the French Digital Schengen visa:

1) Members of the Olympic and Paralympic Family seeking accreditation through their respective committees. This category encompasses a broad spectrum of individuals, including members of the International Olympic Committee and Paralympic Committee, international federations, national committees, organizing committee members, national associations, athletes, judges, coaches, sports technicians, medical personnel, accredited journalists, senior executives, donors, and patrons. The application process for this group is notably streamlined, requiring no appointment scheduling, document collection, or payment of regular Schengen Visa fees. Instead, applicants need only present themselves at the designated visa center at the appointed time, along with their passport and valid accreditation certificate issued by the OCOG.

2) Other official guests were extended invitations by the Olympic or Paralympic Committee (OCOG). Individuals invited by the OCOG to attend the games must complete a visa application through the France-Visas website and furnish the requisite documents as outlined therein. Additionally, they are required to submit a letter of invitation from the OCOG. Similar to the first category, no visa fee is applicable for this group. However, both categories are mandated to provide biometric data, including fingerprints and photographs, at the visa center.

Since the commencement of the new year on January 1, 2024, France has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative by introducing Digital Schengen visas, marking the first instance of such visas being issued within the European Union.
