India requested the United States to speed up the issuance of business visas, said Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal after the conclusion of the 13th India-US Trade Policy Forum (TPF) with his US counterpart United States Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai in Washington.

“India has made the request to the US that they may speed up the issuance of regular business visas. We are delighted that the movement of professional and skilled workers, students, investors, and business travelers as all of them are expanding between the two countries and that has helped increase our bilateral relations. we are grateful that the US was able to process the student visas  on an expedited basis so that in the post covid scenario, our students could come to the US to pursue their studies, for the fall of 2022” said Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Govt. of India. He also further added that due to the visa approval delay, both countries in terms of businesses, trade, and investments suffer.

As the crisis is creating an inconvenience to the system, to come up with the appropriate solution US assistant secretary of commerce for global markets, Arun Venkataraman stated “We are doubling the number of direct hires, we have to facilitate the issuance of visas here at the embassy and we are also working to bring on diplomatic spouses to also work in the process in the areas of visas. So, we are continuing to take steps… We have already made progress and are issuing more visas than we ever did before.”

Considering the implemented solutions, the issue will be resolved and India would be getting the visa approval at a good pace accordingly.
